Listen, Inc. was founded
in 1995 by a group of former Brüel & Kjær
engineers and project managers who recognized that manufacturers
of electroacoustic products were frustrated with being forced
to use different and typically incompatible measurement
systems for production testing and R&D. By not having
a common test and measurement platform, Production and R&D
groups had great difficulty comparing measurement results.
From this, Listen's SoundWare™ product development
philosophy was born - create application-specific software
modules that satisfy particular measurement requirements.
Instead of relying on proprietary hardware
for data acquisition and generating test signals, Listen
incorporates high-quality sound cards used in professional
audio applications. Their large dynamic range, high sampling
rates, 24-bit A/D and D/A converters, and low per-channel
cost provide a front-end that easily competes with dedicated
audio test and measurement instrumentation. Listen's software
products are developed using National Instruments LabVIEW®
and specialized algorithms. By utilizing this approach,
National Instruments chose Listen's premier SoundWare product,
SoundCheck™,
as the
Best Application of The Year in 1998.
From the company's beginnings in the military
communication headset market, today's major manufacturers
in loudspeakers, hearing aids, and wireless communication
now use Listen's SoundWare products thus enabling our customers
to transform sound into knowledge.
