Transforming Sound into Knowledge Oct 2009
Greetings!

This is an exciting month for us. We are launching a new product, a new website, presenting a technical paper at AES and more. Read on for more information!
SoundCheck ONETM Launch at AES

SoundCheck ONE ScreenshotWe are launching SoundCheck ONETM, our new low cost production line test system at AES on Oct 9-12 at the Javits Center in New York. SoundCheck ONE is a complete test system that can have you making measurements within just a few minutes of opening the box. It consists of a simplified version of the popular SoundCheck® software package, integrated with Listen's AmpConnect hardware, a sound card, cables and an optional microphone.

SoundCheck ONE relies on the advanced test methods from the full version of SoundCheck, so it offers the same speed, reliability and repeatability. Unlike other comparably priced systems, should you need more flexibility in the future, the software supplied in the SoundCheck ONE package can be upgraded to a full version of SoundCheck - all the hardware supplied is fully compatible. This guarantees that even if your testing needs expand, your initial investment is not wasted.

Stop by booth #533 at AES for a demonstration.

AES Presentation: New Rub & Buzz Algorithm

Rub & Buzz Graph

Steve Temme and Pascal Brunet of Listen, Inc. along with D.B. Keele of DBK Associates and Labs will be presenting a paper entitled "Practical Measurement of Loudspeaker Distortion Using a Simplified Auditory Perceptual Model" at AES paper session P12 - Transducers Manufacturing and Equipment on Sunday, October 11, 9:00 am - 1:00 pm. The paper explains a new algorithm (CLEARTM) for the detection of rub & buzz defects in loudspeakers that is based on a simplified perceptual model based on human masking thresholds. Results obtained using this algorithm are presented and show a strong correlation with human listener results.

New Portfolio of Hearing Aid Test Sequences

Hearing Aid Test Setup

Listen offers a suite of standard hearing aid test sequences for purchase. It includes all the major tests from ANSI S3.22 and IEC 60318-7, as well as some of the additional 'Annex C' sequences from the 2003 ANSI standard. Each test, as outlined in the standards, is contained in a single test sequence which can be run independently. There are also several full test sequences, which call up the required individual tests to run a complete standard test suite.

First Friday Webinars
Amandio presents a seminar

Our First Friday Webinars have been a huge success, with over 50 attendees most weeks. We continue the series in November with "Display:A guide through the many options for configuring and customizing displays, as well as instructions on how to interact with data from the Memory List" and in December with "Sequence Development:A look at the basics of developing sequences, including sequence editor usage, step layouts, and best practices". Please use the link below to sign up for these training sessions, or to view recordings of past sessions.

Q&A

Sales/Application
Engineer Brian Fallon answers a SoundCheck Question.
Q: How can a SoundCheck user easily change their status.dat file if they need to fix a hardware key/staus.dat mismatch, change hardware keys, or change optional modules

A: In SoundCheck 8, the Folders dialog (Edit->Folder Paths) has an entry for Status File Path with an accompanying browse button.  If you select a different status.dat file, SoundCheck will load it without having to be restarted.

See this and more at our user forums.

Quick Tip
You can now (version 8.1 and higher) clear the data from all Memory List Tabs simultaneously by selecting Memory > Delete All In All Tabs.
