Senior Audio DSP Engineer – Acoustic Test - Boston, MA
We are searching for a brilliant audio DSP research engineer with significant psychoacoustic experience. This talented individual will be the key R&D / technical mind within its software team which develops and codes audio algorithms for SoundCheck, Listen’s flagship electroacoustic test software. This unique position faces both intellectual and business challenges and requires commitments to following-through, testing, and implementation in order for the team to deliver critical software releases. This Senior Audio DSP Engineer will get to mentor and train less experienced team members, as well as contribute to technical papers which are presented at conferences such as AES.
You will have extensive experience and a proven track record with audio DSP and signal processing algorithms, as well as a strong background in psychoacoustics as perceptual audio measurements are a key focus in Listen’s product development. You will have experience and accomplishments turning concepts proposed by management, customers and team members into reality by developing, coding, testing, integrating, and correlating them to human listeners and existing methods. Having high standards, attention to detail, and taking pride in your work are valuable characteristics, as well as having a willingness to openly discuss challenges with others.
Education and Knowledge
- A master’s degree or doctorate in electrical engineering, physics, mathematics or a similar subject is required. A similarly-focused bachelor’s degree would be considered if the subsequent accomplishments and experience are extremely relevant.
- Understanding of audio test and measurement, speech, music, psychoacoustics
- Strong knowledge of signal processing for metrology applications including filters, time and frequency analysis, adaptive filtering, and audio CODEC architecture.
- Thorough knowledge of acoustics standards including IEEE, ITU, TIA, ANSI and AES, as well as perceptual acoustics standards like PEAQ, PESQ, and POLQA.
Skills and Experience
- 5-10+ years in DSP algorithm development, ideally for metrology/ test & measurement applications
- Methodical approach to coding, testing and documentation.
- Experience or interest in either acoustics or sound and vibration engineering.
- LabVIEW, MATLAB, and/or similar software platforms
- Ability to work well in a small team.
- Willingness to challenge and discuss your own and other people’s ideas
- Proven self-starter, who can manage and prioritize workload to meet product development deadlines.
- Able to mentor and train others.

Sales Director - Boston, MA
Are you a hands-on sales director experienced in managing a successful sales team as well as identifying leads and closing deals yourself? Are you technically knowledgeable in addition to being an excellent negotiator? If so, we’d love to hear from you.
We need a competent, enthusiastic and organized sales director to lead and nurture a small team as well as sell our audio test and measurement system to their own set of exciting accounts in the consumer electronics industry. This position, based out of our Boston head office, will be responsible for growing and supporting our customer base, both directly and by leading and assisting team members to achieve their targets. A senior management role in our company, the sales director will work closely with the company president, marketing, and operations department to meet company targets and objectives.
On the management side, you will:
- Develop, motivate and nurture our growing team of sales people, hiring additional staff when required
- Manage the team’s performance to meet targets
- Manage our North America distributor network
- Work closely with marketing, operations, support and the company president to plan and execute the next stage in the company’s growth
and on the sales side you will cover every aspect of the sales cycle for your own accounts including:
- Technical demonstrations of our products at customer sites, trade shows and remotely via WebEx
- Preparation and follow up of quotations
- Working closely with engineers, senior executives and corporate purchasing departments to close the deal
- Building long term relationships with customers to secure future business

Skills and Education
Required
- Bachelor’s degree (engineering / scientific subject a plus), or equivalent experience
- Minimum 7+ years in a sales role with a proven track record of sales growth within your territory
- 5+ years’ experience managing and developing a team of sales people (managing remote employees a plus)
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills – consistent and reliable use of the company’s CRM is expected
- The ability to work well in a small team and to interface well with different cultures in order to maximize sales on a global basis
- An energetic, outgoing, and goal-oriented personality
- A collaborative attitude
Advantageous
- Previous experience, or an interest in acoustics or sound and vibration engineering is an advantage

Note: This position requires some (up to 30%) travel, including multi-day trips (usually 5 days). A driver’s license and clean driving record is a requirement for this position. Although mostly within the United States, occasional international travel is required.

Software Manager - Boston, MA
In this role, you will lead a small team of programmers developing our world-class audio test system –adding new features, and improving existing ones. You will manage all aspects of the software release cycle, including development, validation, bug-fixing, beta testing and release to meet specifications from the product manager and product development deadlines. You will lead, nurture and develop a small team, and recruit additional programmers as necessary. This position is the key leadership role in the software team and you will be working closely with the company president and product management, so strong collaborative skills are essential. The right person for this role will also be happy to roll up their sleeves and pitch in with development, so programming or DSP ability and competency in, or a willingness to learn LabVIEW are critical. A proven track record in software management is essential, and a perfectionist streak, pride in your work, attention to detail and a willingness to be open about challenges and discuss them with others are key characteristics that are required for this role.

Required
- Experience in software management with 3+ years of directly managing a team (including hiring and performance management), plus 5+ years in software development
- Experience in managing and prioritizing all aspects of a software release cycle, including development, validation, bug-fixing, beta testing and release to meet product development deadlines
- Strong leadership skills, with experience coaching, motivating and appraising a diverse team
- Proven track record of delivering on-time, quality product

Software Engineer - Boston, MA

This position is a key player in the small but diverse software team which develops and codes audio algorithms for SoundCheck, Listen’s flagship electroacoustic test software.
SoundCheck is a powerful large scale LabVIEW-based electroacoustic test software solution. Annual new releases with added functionality ensure that there is always something exciting to work on, and make it critical that the person in this role can maintain product quality while working to strict deadlines. The role involves coding algorithms, interfaces and other functionality in LabVIEW, as well as ensuring that the software correctly interfaces with a wide range of other devices. You will be involved with all aspects of the product lifecycle from coding to de-bugging, validation and release.
You will enjoy programming in LabVIEW and have experience for, or be interested in acoustic measurement.
