SoundCheck ONE Updated and Expanded

SoundCheck ONE, our budget SoundCheck system has been updated and expanded for its release with SoundCheck 13. SoundCheck ONE is essentially a lower cost, simplified, version of SoundCheck coupled with the AmpConnect ISC hardware. SoundCheck ONE offers the capability to test loudspeakers, microphones and headphones within predetermined sequence templates.

Although the user interface is the same as in the full version of SoundCheck, rather than using the Sequence Editor, SoundCheck ONE users are supplied with sequence templates. These templates serve as the starting point for all SoundCheck ONE tests and can be used to generate as many product-specific sequences as desired by selecting parameters such as the stimulus signal, characteristics to be measured, frequency range, level and limits.

SoundCheck ONE is designed for customers who do not own a full version of SoundCheck and need a low cost and easy to set up system for basic production line tests of loudspeakers, microphones or headphones. While it offers the same accuracy, advanced algorithms and speed as the regular version of SoundCheck, its flexibility and test customization capabilities are restricted. It is a good entry point for a company testing their products for the first time or moving up from a more rudimentary test system as it can be upgraded to the full version at any time for an additional fee.

Production Line Smartphone & Tablet Test

Smartphone testWe are excited to announce a complete system for testing of smartphones, tablets, and Bluetooth speakers on the production line.

Soundcheck, combined with the new GRAS production line acoustic test chamber offers the acoustic isolation needed for these tests combined with the speed, flexibility and performance of SoundCheck. The test chamber is robust and user friendly, and is designed to offer fast, accurate and repeatable results in automated production environments. It is very flexible – easy fixture adjustment to accommodate a variety of different devices and positions, and ensures that the test chamber can be re-used for different projects. Naturally it will integrate seamlessly with SoundCheck.

CE Mark for SC Amp

SCAmpListen, Inc. is pleased to announce that it has received CE Mark approval for its SCAmp Audio Test Amplifier. Specifically designed for the audio test market, the SCAmp incorporates several features unique to the needs of audio test and measurement, and unnecessary features found in regular audio amplifiers have been eliminated to keep production line operation simple and error-proof. It integrates seamlessly with Listen’s SoundCheck audio test and measurement software and also works with other brands of test system for reliable audio tests both in the R&D lab and on the production line.

Launched last year, the product is already receiving positive reviews from customers for its ease of use, low distortion and accurate measurements. Its unique measurement circuit is patent pending and has been the subject of technical papers presented at Audio Engineering Society (AES) and ALMA conferences.

Listen president, Steve Temme commented, ‘We are excited to have this approval. It will certainly facilitate sales of SCAmp in the European Union and other countries that recognize or require this approval.’

New Digital Audio Data Interface

PIO-9216 AngleThe new PIO-9216 programmable serial audio data interface provides a simple and direct connection between circuit board components such DSP’s, DAC’s, ADC’s, CODECS , etc. and your audio test system. This enables accurate testing of devices that use the I2S, Left Justified, Right Justified and TDM audio data formats. This capability is valuable in the R&D lab for evaluating and de-bugging circuit board designs, and is also common on the production line, for example, for testing / QC of circuit boards before installation into a device. The interface works with any audio test system and can be computer controlled from within SoundCheck or via an external program.

SoundCheck 13 Preview

SC 13 graphSoundCheck 13 (shipping Q1 2014) is packed with improvements and upgrades, including a simpler, user interface, improved memory management, faster test development and the option to use longer test signals. Changes and improvements include a complete overhaul of the sequence editor, making it faster to write, troubleshoot and modify test sequences, and updated versions of the XY and Waveform graphs with a cleaner look and more intuitive interface.

Significant improvements to SoundCheck’s memory management allows the use of longer stimulus signals. It also means that sequences that use multiple acquisition steps can also keep iterative recorded waveforms in the memory list without incurring significant memory consumption.  Customers performing multi-channel measurements will also experience substantial performance gains in SoundCheck 13 due to the lower memory footprint. This is beneficial for R&D applications with complex sequences, in particular in the telephony industry where long speech signals are widely used. A 64-bit version  allows the program to access more system memory, which permits the use of much longer stimuli and allow large data sets to be opened into the memory list for offline analysis and reporting.
